Santorini: A Day in Oia

Hello world I can’t wait to be a part of you again. While these photos may look like no one was around, we got up early to enjoy these sights for ourselves (or mostly). It’s sad to think this beauty can’t be explored the way it used to in the current state of affairs. So here is an homage to the beautiful Oia, Santorini.

I’m convinced it’s impossible to find a spot in Oia that isn’t postcard worthy. Every corner there is something beautiful to see. I think the only non glamorous part is how much my calves hurt after walking up and down the city all day (but that could just be me).

When you’re in a place this beautiful the only appropriate thing to do is dance. It was somewhat windy when we visited, but I love the movement this maxi skirt gave, the florals on the dark black fabric brought the outfit to life. Perhaps this is what the phrase “soul meets body” means.

Now of course, would I have really been in Greece without THE ultimate gladiator sandals? These are not for the faint of heart, as they do stand out, but in the best way! They work in great combination with this peekaboo slit skirt for a touch of added drama.

Walking around the streets of Oia were incredibliy inspiring in so many ways. The architecture against the cliff landscape calls to be painted. Even the photographs themselves look unreal. That is the beauty of this small island with enourmous charm. I hope we can all explore again one day soon.

This season is proving that the cold weather in Florida is here to stay, at least for now. I don’t mind though…bring on the cozy sweaters and fabulous boots. This cold shoulder top with a slight flare sleeve brings attitude and style, to an otherwise everyday sweater. The shoes and bag play off each other with silver tones and textures being similar, but different enough so they don’t compete with each other.

Oh, and the bag…THE BAG. Let me start by saying I have been obsessed with the Chloe “Faye”– the sophisticated shape, the style, the lo profile logo. What I’m not so obsessed with? The price, yowza! Don’t get me wrong, if you wear it all the time, the cost per wear can be bearable, right? But is Chloe as strong a fashion house as some of the other big players? Remember the “Paddington”? Anyone? That’s for another post. This handbag by Furla totally gives me the same feelings (for about half the price), and isn’t that what it’s all about? Oh, and the best part is that it’s reversible. Yep, that beautiful snake skin that may not go with everything flips over and voilà a universal bag.

If you’ve have been keeping up with my summer go to’s, you will find that I have been living in Madewell’s pull over shorts (and pretty much Madewell in general). Usually when I go into their store I have either one of two outlooks: I hate everything, or I want everything. I think you can tell, based on the outfit details, what happened this time around. I usually have the most luck during summer.

Whether you’re a fashion novice or predicting the trends, Madewell makes outfits so effortless–and it’s all about color scheme. When you walk in, you will be greeted by neutrals with pops of color. They definitely take the French approach to building a wardrobe around neutral, key, pieces. In pursuit of adding a feminine touch to this boxy top, I added these lace up flats by Pour La Victoire…and they added just that, a victory.

Short Season

It is officially that time of year in Florida. The time when you can’t help but sweat through your clothes, and the humidity is at it’s peak: yep, it’s short season. Let me start by saying that I am not a shorts kinda girl, even the word sounds weird to me after saying it out loud: shorts, shorts, SHORTS. But, being that I live in Florida, I was having the need to find a few good pairs to make it through the summer months. I am SO picky with shorts. I will try on several different kinds months on end and then, finally, convince myself to take a pair home that look semi-decent. Then, the worst part happens. I try them on, look in the mirror, and never wear them out of the house. Eventually they end up getting donated the next season, until the viscous cycle repeats it self.
BUT, no more! I have found them: the perfect shorts. How are they perfect? Let me count the ways. First, they have a cinch waist, and I know what you’re thinking. Yes, they feel like pajama shorts- a total plus in my book. Also they are the most flattering on my more athletic inner thighs. They taper in towards the thigh and raise up with an adorable twist towards the outer thigh, think contouring for your legs. What more could a girl want?

Effortless Sunday

It’s finally feeling *a little bit* like winter in Florida. Isn’t it so hard to get out of bed in the colder months? This was one of those days. A la I want to still have the rest of my day with minimum effort and maximum comfort. Current Elliott are the kind of jeans that feel so soft you could sleep in them. They are some of my absolute favorites–so snuggly. Add some sneakers and this oversized crop top and I was all set for some barbacoa tacos & mezcal margaritas.

I’m back at it, and right before the new year. Already making one one of my New Year’s resolutions to be more active on my blog, and my now YouTube channel. Here is to the New Year! Goodbye 2016! Well, before I say goodbye, I’m planning on one more post after this one…and it was shot in one of my favorite areas of north Florida.

You see, I’m already dreaming about the future. Let’s start with the present. You know those days where it’s so dreary out you just feel like throwing on sweatpants and not doing anything with your hair? This was almost one of those days, but then I remembered these amazing boots! Thank you Sam Edelman for making a stylish boot for the masses. I’ve pinned several $200+ rain boots on Pinterest over the past few years so when I saw these were under $55 they immediately made my wish list. Keeping with my green theme is a nod to the cold shoulder trend. I love the muted tone of this Topshop piece, and I’m finding this trend to be a perfect addition to the fluctuating weather here. I paired it with these almost black high waisted jeans from one of my favorite brands. The feeling of being hands free is also a new regular for me right now, which is why this backpack purse has been a staple for me recently. I love the way the fringe adds a detailed element to this look while also remaining minimal at the same time.
